In Memorium: Kevin Rodgers, MD FAAEM

Posted Tuesday, November 21st, 2017

It is with numbness, disbelief and deepest sadness that I must inform you of the tragic and senseless death of AAEM's President, Dr. Kevin Rodgers, MD FAAEM, who was shot and killed yesterday in his home as the apparent victim of an armed robbery.

Kevin was one of Emergency Medicine's true Heroes, mentoring thousands of residents and steadfastly upholding AAEM's Mission and Principles with over 12 years of dedicated service to our organization.  He served us all with boundless energy, kindness, intelligence and a wonderful wit. Kevin's selflessness and sense of caring and justice will inspire future leaders in Emergency Medicine for decades to come.

Our heartfelt prayers go out to Kevin's wife and their four sons as they struggle through unthinkable grief, and to the Indiana University and Indianapolis communities as they mourn the loss of a great leader.  May the love of Kevin's countless friends and admirers somehow ease the burden borne by the Rodgers family.

With a heavy heart,
John C.
